In the occasion that you are unable to correct an issue with your Windows installation, and you are unable to utilize a Windows restore point or backup image, you may need to reset your Windows installation.

If Windows will boot, but has issues which would warrant a reset of the operating system, please follow these instructions.

Reset Windows when you are able to boot into the Windows operating system:

Click Start, type: reset -- an option will come up that says "Reset this PC". Click this found item to start the reset process via the Windows settings panel.

Follow along with the onscreen instructions to reset the PC, and select the option to keep your files and folders. Let the process run, reboot, and then see if the monitor works.

If that doesn't work:

Do a soft-reinstallation of the Windows files and installation.

A soft-reinstallation of Windows keeps your apps and files on your primary OS drive, but reinstalls the Windows operational files. Note that this option may not always be available depending on the severity of the issue.
