From time to time, Windows may have a corrupted file store, which houses Windows update information. This may lead to issues with Windows updates being downloaded and/or installed.
To resolve:
1. Right click Start, click "Terminal - Admin".
2. In the resulting window, copy and paste this command:
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
And hit enter, let the scan run.
3. Do the same with this command:
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /SPSuperseded
4. Then in the same terminal window, type: sfc /scannow and hit enter, let the scan run and finish.
5. Then run Disk Cleanup by clicking Start, type: Cleanup -- right click Disk Cleanup and select "Run as Admin" -- opt to clean up/delete all files in the resulting dialog box.
Once this is done, reboot.
Run Windows update again and check for issues.
